This vacancy necessitates a person of smart appearance with good communication skills as they will be liaising with bereaved families, hospitals, nursing homes, crematoria, church ministers and Coroner’s Officers.
General duties include pall bearing and chauffeur duties, collection of the deceased from place of death to our premises, and preparation of the deceased for the chapel of rest.
Other duties include preparation of coffins, engraving nameplates and gravemarkers, preparing cremated remains graves and maintaining and cleaning of company vehicles. Occasionally you will be required to assist the memorial masons.
Our service must, at all times, be first class and the care and consideration of our customers’ needs and requirements is of the utmost importance. We therefore require a person with a positive attitude, with plenty of initiative to learn the procedures and quickly become a valuable member of a busy working team.
The applicant must be clean, presentable, hold a clean UK manual driving licence and live within a 10 mile radius of our Reading office.
A uniform is provided.
Hours of work: 8.30am – 5.30pm.
You will be required to assist in a proportion of out of hours removals along with occasional weekend funerals.
6 month probationary period either way
