We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team in Reading as full-time Funeral Arrangers. If you possess excellent communication skills, are compassionate, and have a desire to assist others during difficult times, this role may be perfect for you.

Key responsibilities

As an independent, family-owned and run funeral director, AB Walker is committed to providing compassionate and professional services to families during their time of need. This role is central to that, and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting families in making funeral arrangements, offering support from the initial call through to the completion of arrangements
  • Coordinating with various third parties including hospitals, nursing homes, crematoria, churches, cemeteries, ministers, and celebrants to ensure all aspects of the funeral process are handled professionally and sensitively
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings and communicate effectively over the phone to guide families through decision-making processes
  • Prepare the Chapel of Rest for visits by loved ones, ensuring it is presented in a dignified and respectful manner
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment while taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks.

About you

  • Compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to help others
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Well-organised and capable of working to deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a team dedicated to excellence and community support
  • Full, clean driving license required

Salary and benefits

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. This is a full-time, on-site role.

Salary: Starting from £25,000 depending on experience.
