Memorial stones (Existing)
Yes, you can use hot soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth or sponge – just take extra care around any painted lettering. Alternatively, you can contact us about our Grave tending service to help you keep your memorial in good condition.
Please contact us and we can arrange for your memorial to be inspected by our masonry team. They will check the condition and report back on the work needed. We will then be able to provide you with a non-obligatory quotation to repair any damage and keep the memorial in good condition going forward.
A missing flower container is frustrating, but as churchyards and cemeteries are generally unmonitored, it can happen. Please contact us to purchase a replacement.
Memorial stones – especially headstones and kerb sets – need a ground settlement period before they can be reinstated. For headstones this is around 6-9 months, and kerb sets can take 12 months or more. Both timeframes can be dependent on time of year and weather conditions.
For health and safety, regulations were issued in 2005 that require headstones to be fixed with an anchor system approved by the National Association of Monumental Masons. This system is designed to allow headstones to move, but to prevent them from toppling over.
