John George Gripton
Passed away on 01 June 2020, aged 84 years.
Monday 1st June, 2020. On this beautiful sunny morning at around 5:30am the loveliest man, (John, Daddy and Grumps) slipped most peacefully away in his sleep. He has fought the toughest of battles over many months with dignity and determination to give each day his very best.
We wish he could see and read all of the super tributes and messages that we've received over the last few days, we are already comforted by our memories of a terrific husband to Yvonne, the most supportive and proud Daddy to Emma and Katie, and in more recent years a dedicated and besotted Grumps to Izzy, Harry, Oliver and Laurence, your messages have added many more accolades, thank you.
Many of his friends and family will know that Prostate Cancer has been a topic of conversation in our family for a few years now. Initially it was discussed quietly in private and then slowly he got braver as he discovered there were many other gentleman and some close friends who like him, were dealing with significant problems and others just starting their journey. We feel, as he did that prostate issues and Prostate Cancer aren't discussed freely enough, and with this in mind we have a message from him and us to you.
Gentleman put your fears aside get your heads out of the sand and get yourselves checked... oh and support Tottenham Hotspur!
John's funeral will be a private service on Monday 15th June, just Yvonne, Emma and Katie attending with no flowers. This isn't what we wanted but with the current restrictions in place it seems the best way forward, so we promise to have a celebration party to remember him and share your thoughts and our collective memories just as soon as the restrictions lift. You will all be invited and we would love to see as many of you as possible join us then. Details will follow.
