The photo on this donation page reminds me of one of our trips down the river on Christopher's Slipper when a 'V' of ducks flew over the boat..."Hope those ducks don't get nervous" said Christopher! Anne & I were shocked and deeply saddened to hear the terrible news about Chris. He was one of the big (and noisiest) characters of the 1970's sides. He was not one to run round anyone on the rugby pitch (none of this side-stepping nonsense for him) but preferred to blast straight through the middle. Never short of the odd thing to say but he had a wise, thoughtful and generous head on him too. We'll miss you, Chris.

It's hard to find the words to express my deep sorrow at the loss of Christopher and my thoughts are with Anne and the rest of their family. Through his long friendship with my father, Chris has always been a part of my life and it is hard to imagine a world without his booming laughter, sense of humour and on a more serious note his worldly guidance. He was an extraordinary man, and a man that will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him, I will continue to laugh whenever I hear 'mind the gap'.

Christopher was a wonderful uncle and great mentor to our children. He encouraged them to work hard, try their best, be curious and adventurous. He saw their potential, and with love, humour and lots of advice, he encouraged them to reach it. It is a pleasure to donate to the charity of Christopher's choice, the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity, and see his legacy of supporting and mentoring children and youth continue through this charity.
