Bereavement support is important when dealing with loss. AB Walker recognises this. Our support extends beyond the funeral to help those experiencing grief after the loss of a loved one.
Grief is a natural reaction to loss and affects everyone differently. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Feelings may include anger, anxiety, helplessness, relief, sadness and guilt. There is no set timetable for starting to adjust to a loss. For some, it can take weeks or months. For others longer. Try to be patient with yourself. Losing a loved one can be one of life’s most difficult experiences.

Our loss and bereavement support resources include some guides that you may like to read on your own, as well as links to other organisations that can offer specific support.
We created our Link group bereavement course to help those who live locally investigate the feelings of loss and bereavement and share experiences. Often knowing that there are common experiences can help them seem more normal feelings to have.
The course is free for all locally and consists of five weekly group sessions run by our trained facilitators at our head office in Reading.
Through our partnership with GriefChat, you can book individual bereavement counselling sessions with one of their qualified bereavement counsellors.
The cost depends on the service that is right for you. In your initial assessment session, you and the counsellor will discuss the best service to meet your needs.
AB Walker organises a service of remembrance in Reading every year to encourage everyone to share this time to reflect on loved ones that have died. All religions and those non-religious are welcome to attend the service, which is usually held in the spring.
